These days…

‎Five local and front range Showroom locations have closed in the last 60 days. Sad state of the economy and building industry in general. If you’ve had orders in and have been left hanging let us know, we will do our best to offer discounts, speedy delivery and to make things easier for you.

5 Things to Remember when you Remodel

5.) Do some research

The best place to start is always the beginning. When it comes to a kitchen or bath, there are a million and one possibilities that can be manipulated to meet nearly any budget. From materials to colors, faucets to lighting, saving photos and magazines is a great way to organize information for your project. Here are a couple blogs and idea books we recommend:

Better Homes & Gardens

From the first conversation you have with your designer, a very basic idea of your wants and needs will make everyone’s life easier. Not only will communication with your design team greatly benefit, but you will too. No one likes to be in the middle of a project, without a bathroom or kitchen, and feel like they’re “in the dark.”

4.) Create an honest and accurate budget

“If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.”

-Red Adair (Oil Field Fire Fighter)

None of us want to admit that our project has limits, but they all do. Knowing what to expect with these limits, both high and low, is another item of extreme importance. Your designer will help you in choosing materials, hardware and a design that best fits your budget and needs – although, an experienced designer and your better companies won’t sacrifice quality or work for free.

Your intuition is your best friend: if it feels too high, it may be – ask for a detailed explanation! If it feels too low, you’re probably right – again a detailed explanation and thorough proposal will save a lot of “extras” later.

3.) Compromise and Sacrifice are not the same

Throughout the process of designing your remodel, choosing your materials and products, remember that compromise and sacrifice are different. Remodels rarely exist without second and sometimes third drafts. Compromise is necessary when remodeling - sometimes this must be moved there for your design to function, or that just doesn’t fit the budget. Worry not. If you have hired a professional, they will offer alternatives and should communicate the options thoroughly.

2.) Beautiful is functional

MTV Cribs made the “room that no one goes in” a famous idea. Your bathroom or kitchen is not one of those rooms. Your house is meant to be lived in. It’s meant to be a home. Every design magazine features bathrooms and kitchens that we might feel bad about actually using. But part of a beautiful bathroom or kitchen is also how well it functions and withstands being used. An emerging trend in products for the home is the ease with which they are cleaned and their durability. Your designer and supplier know these products well, and with increased technology, these durable materials are now some of the most aesthetically pleasing.

Rest assured that the right professional can bring all of your desires and needs together to fit your lifestyle and guarantee lasting value.

Christopher’s Showroom - Before & After

Before & After

1.)   Be realistic

Be realistic seems like a vague request. What this means is to simply reflect the understanding that your design and construction team has. They have needs, quite similar to yours. Sometimes things may be back ordered, sometimes a detail gets overlooked and sometimes things happen exactly as they should. Mistakes and miscommunications are human nature. Don’t expect them or disregard them, but always be prepared. An extra week on your remodel is worth the lifetime of having a beautiful (and functional) bath or kitchen.

What are your favorite memories in your home?
We’re willing to bet a few of them happened in your kitchen or bath…

People tend to forget that a home is much like a suit; it’s not the house that makes the family, it’s the family that makes the home. A kitchen is one of the most functional rooms in any home, though it remains highly under-appreciated. A kitchen is the source of nearly every form of sustenance we need: a warm meal, a cold drink, a midnight snack, and a morning embrace.
Though this kitchen is far from a design masterpiece, it’s one of our favorites!
